Aflac Accident at a Glance

  • Aflac is a unique supplemental insurance plan that pays you instead of your doctor when you receive care. We offer the Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and Accident plan.

  • The Accident Plan pays you when you experience a covered accident, this can be anything from a concussion to a dislocation. Accidents don’t need to be work related either!

  • There are two versions of the plan: “low” and “high”

  • The plans offer the same coverage, but pay you different amounts.

  • To enroll, call SDPEBA at 888-315-8027 or click here to book a call.

The Aflac Accident plan is fairly straightforward. The Accident plan pays you if you experience a serious accident that sends you to the hospital, doctors or urgent care. These accidents vary greatly, but think serious injuries like burns, lacerations, fractures, and dislocations. The plan also offers additional coverage for things like ambulance rides and surgery, such as:

  • Initial Treatment for a Covered Accident

  • Emergency Room Observation

  • Prescriptions

  • Ambulance Rides

  • Concussions, TBI, and Comas

  • Emergency Dental Work

  • Various Levels of 2nd and 3rd degree Burns

  • Fractures, Dislocations, Lacerations

  • Eye Injuries

  • Outpatient Surgery and Anesthesia

  • Facility Fees

  • After Care Benefits

  • Appliances like canes, ankle braces, knee scooters, wheelchairs, etc.

  • Rehab

  • Physical/Occupational Therapy

  • Hospitalizations

  • And more, for the full list check the Accident Plan brochure linked here.

Note: There is also a mammogram benefit payout where you can get one $100 payout a year by getting this routine medical test.

This plan has two versions: the low plan and the high plan. They each cover the same thing, it just affects how much you’re paid when you experience a qualifying event. The high plan also costs more, but that’s to be expected when the payout is two to three times what the low plan offers. We recommend you take a look at the different rates and payouts to see what’s best for you.

Is the Accident Plan right for you?

If you’re into sports or have a dangerous physical job, this is a great plan to consider. It’s also worthwhile if you are accident prone or just anxious about any of these serious issues. Just know that this does not cover wear and tear. Meaning that if you have a knee problem that becomes a serious issue you’re not covered. It only applies to things that are caused by a specific incident.

People with active young kids might want to consider this plan, since you’re likely chasing after them all the time.

How much does it cost?
The price for this plan varies based on if you want the low or high plan. Generally this is our most affordable Aflac plan. For the most up to date rates, please check the full rate breakdown by clicking here.
