Aflac Life Insurance at a Glance

  • This is one of three life insurance options that SDPEBA offers, the other two being personalized life insurance and a plan made by Ethos.

  • Aflac Life Insurance is a Whole Life insurance plan, meaning it covers you for your whole life. It doesn’t ever expire so long as you keep making payments.

  • This is a fixed rate plan, making it perfect for younger people who can sign up at a lower rate.

  • This is just like any other life insurance plan, with it you’ll need to name a beneficiary you can make a claim should you pass away.

  • This plan offers coverage between $5,000 and $300,000. Rates vary based on age and coverage amount.

Aflac offers a fixed rate plan that can be set up from the comfort of your own home. Once you sign up, your price is locked in and won’t change, no matter your age, health status, or if you change jobs. Additionally, Aflac’s coverage begins the day you enroll, making it one of the fastest ways to start receiving coverage.

That all being said, the Aflac plan is one of our less customizable options. The plan only offers coverage between $5,000 and $300,000 and it doesn’t have any fancy riders or stipulations.

Is the Aflac Life Insurance Plan right for me?

Since this plan is on a fixed rate, it can be a great deal for anyone. We recommend you look at the rate sheet and check if a plan like this could fit into your budget. We especially recommend this plan to our younger members, since it will cost less and will follow you even if you switch careers.

One of the main draws to this plan is that it doesn’t expire. Term-life insurance plans are often cheaper and have bigger payouts, but they don’t cover you past a certain age. Whole life insurance does.

How much does this plan cost?
The plans vary pretty drastically based on age, whether or not you smoke, and how much coverage you want. Check out the rate sheet linked on the sidebar for more information.

How do I file a Claim?

In order to file an Aflac claim, you’ll need to make a “My Aflac” account. It’s probably in your best interest to make one of these as soon as this plan goes live on January 1st.

When you create your account you must use your certificate number. We highly recommend you check this guide on “How to File a Claim” as you might need to alter your certificate number.

Once you have created an account, you simply need to go to MyAflac.Aflac.com and click “New Claim.” If you have any difficulty creating a claim, check out this guide, or call/email us. We’ll gladly help you out.
