Aflac Hospital at a Glance

  • The Hospital Indemnity Plan pays you when you are admitted to the hospital, go to the doctor, or get specific medical tests. There are two versions of the plan: “low” and “high”

  • The plans offer the same coverage, but pay you different amounts.

  • To enroll, call SDPEBA at 888-315-8027 or click here to book a call.

Aflac’s Hospital Indemnity plan is probably the most misunderstood Aflac plan. Yes, it covers you if you’re admitted to the hospital, but it does a lot more than that too. This plan offers coverage for the following:

  • Major Diagnostic Exams
  • CT/CAT Scans
  • MRI’s
  • EEG’s
  • Visiting the Doctor (6 Visits per Calendar Year)
  • Telemedicine (6 Visits per Calendar Year)
  • Going to the Chiropractor (4 Visits per Calendar Year)
  • Getting a Prescription (5 per Year)
  • Emergency Room Observation
  • Inpatient/Outpatient Surgery & Anesthesia
  • And more, for the full list check the Hospital Plan brochure.

Note: There is also a mammogram benefit payout where you can get one $100 payout a year by getting this routine medical test.

This plan has two versions: the low plan and the high plan. They each cover the same thing, it just affects how much you’re paid when you experience a qualifying event. The high plan also costs more, but that’s to be expected when the payout is two to three times what the low plan offers. We recommend you take a look at the different rates and payouts to see what’s best for you.

Is the Hospital Plan right for you?

If you’re considering the Hospital Plan there are a couple of things to think about. For one, do you have any upcoming surgeries or tests planned? Are you at risk to be hospitalized? Are you thinking about growing your family? All of these are covered events and make the Hospital Plan very useful.

If you also plan to use your doctor’s visits, this plan is great as you can get a payout 6 times a year.

How much does it cost?

The price for this plan varies based on whether you select the low or high option and whether or not you’re seeking coverage for just yourself or also for your spouse/dependents.
