If you do not have Medicare but are still looking to maximize your coverage, this is the plan for you. With no deductibles, a very generous out-of-pocket maximum, and additional benefit enhancements, the Sharp Classic plan truly has you covered.
What does that all mean? Good question. Out-of-pocket-maximums refer to the most you’ll pay in a calendar year out of pocket for copay. With the Sharp Classic plan you will, at most, pay $1,500 ($3,000 for families) for medical care in a year. Which is great! That means if there are serious issues going on and you are in and out of the hospital/doctors, you won’t have to worry about going above that amount. On top of that, through Sharp’s Value network you have access to a huge network of doctors and specialists all in and around the San Diego area.

Is the Sharp Non-Medicare Classic Plan right for me?
We think that if you qualify for Medicare, it is probably in your best interest to consider the Sharp Direct Advantage plan that includes Medicare. These Non-Medicare plans have a higher monthly premium than their Active Employee counterparts, and so you should look at the rate sheet before continuing. If you cannot get Medicare or have looked at that plan and don’t want it, then you can definitely consider this plan.
If you’re comparing different health plans, a lot of them use metals like bronze, silver, and gold. When it comes to Sharp Plans, the Classic is at the platinum tier, or basically, above gold. It offers more coverage and is less restrictive but has a higher premium than most other medical plans.
It’s important to note that if you live in Southern Riverside or the Temecula area, the Classic Plan has coverage in these locations. Additionally, the Rady Children’s hospitals are in the Classic’s Value network. So if you live outside of San Diego County or Southern Riverside, Sharp might not be the best plan for you.
In order to make the best choice for you, we suggest you look at the benefit breakdown from Sharp that compares each plan and the rate sheet, which you can find on the sidebar. Think about what sort of medical needs you have and what plan fits best into your budget.
