Aflac is not like other insurance plans as it pays you directly instead of paying your doctors and providers. We offer four Aflac plans: Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and Whole Life Insurance.
Each plan offers coverage for different “events,” and it’s not exactly obvious based on the name. The best way to think about it is that the Accident plan covers you for any sudden injuries, like broken bones, lacerations, or wounds; the Critical Illness plan covers you for big lifechanging diagnoses, like cancer, strokes, and heart attacks; the Hospital Indemnity plan pays you when you are admitted into a hospital, go to the doctor, or have surgery; and then there’s the whole life insurance plan, which is… well, a whole life insurance plan! Some Aflac plans (Critical Illness and Accident) even offer a Wellness component, which means they pay you $50 a year for getting routine medical tests you probably would get anyway.
Because Aflac offers such different plans, they are well suited for anyone who is looking for supplemental insurance. If you want advice on where to start: if you have kids or your hobbies or work involve physical activity, you should consider the accident plan. If you have a family history of any critical illness, you should consider the critical illness plan. If you have upcoming surgeries, are pregnant, or are planning to get pregnant, you should consider the hospital plan.
